LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

REALIZING, RESTORING, AND RECLAIMING DREAMS AND VISIONS

Three Deep Leadership Academy exists to provide urban youth the opportunity to gain skills and draw closer to God.  Three Deep hopes to give students confidence by helping them work on their skills. 

The name “Three Deep” signifies the depth in which the program touches and transforms the lives of children: education, exercise, and spiritual enlightenment through God’s Word.

1. Education - We focus in three areas of academics: reading, writing, and math.  We develop and enhance critical thinking skills so that standardized tests are not a problem. We make learning fun. We have seen remarkable results in children’s grades. The academic program of Three Deep is supervised by a certified and licensed educator.

2. Exercise - The children start each morning with warm-up exercises, running and stretching. Every week of the program, a different sport is introduced to the children.  Children learn the basics of each sport. We have had children join organized teams after discovering a love for a sport.  This area is supervised by an athletic trainer.

3. Enlightenment through God’s Word - Through God’s Word we teach children how to connect to their Source, who they are, why they are here, what they can do, where they come from, and where they are going. We change the hopeless into the hopeful. Children attend chapel every day, with opportunities to connect with the LORD through music and Bible teaching.  We give them the hope to dream and we help them realize their dreams and visions.

Older students participate in a two year leadership development course.  Students sharpen their public speaking skills, learn time management principals, practice service learning and more.   The teens begin taking the ACT in the seventh grade.  The goal is to have them score a 22 on the test by their sophomore year in high school.  Most of these students transition to becoming Three Deep staff once they complete the leadership piece.

The amazing aspect of Three Deep is that we weave sports, the Bible, and education together each week, every day. For example, during baseball week, there are stories read on the topic of baseball, papers are written on baseball, word problems using the subject of baseball are solved and baseball analogies are drawn from God’s word.

• Lunch 12:00pm

• Chapel 12:35pm

• Sport Skill 2:00pm

• Sending home 4:30

LIMITED FUNDS, UNLIMITED VISION

Even though Three Deep Leadership Academy, much like Community of Men and Youth Resources, may lack significant funds to accomplish all they desire to do, that has not dampened the vision and hope for the future. There is a strong desire to create a business model for urban churches that can be replicated. “If Minneapolis Believers in Christ can develop and sustain the Three Deep Leadership Academy”, Pastor Joseph C. Sutton believes, then maybe that can give encouragement to other churches to try the same thing—even if resources are a challenge.

THE COST

• The cost for the whole eight weeks of camp and the leadership camp is $70 per child. This will not cover the entire cost of the program. We are looking to raise $40,000 in donor support this year to help underwrite the Three Deep Leadership Academy.  Invest in the next generation today!
